An 11-year-old boy was pronounced dead after a fire broke out in a mobile home at the Golden Grove Mobile Home Park in St. Cloud on Wednesday.

St. Cloud Police Department and St. Cloud Fire Rescue responded to a residential mobile home fire at 1130 Lime Drive and were on scene within minutes. When they arrived at the scene of the fire the residence was already fully engulfed in flames, making it impossible for rescue personnel to make entry into the mobile home.

Officials said the fire happened at 7 a.m. and it took firefighters 20 minutes to fully extinguish the fire. Several people near the mobile home fire called 911 to report the fire.

The victim’s mother and teenage sister were able to escape the residence. The mother was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with burns and lacerations. An additional subject was transported to St. Cloud Regional Medical Center with burns and lacerations after coming to the aid of the family.

The State Fire Marshall responded and took over the investigation. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but at this time the fire has not been named as suspicious.

The name of the victim will not be released out of respect for the family.
