Police responded to 2123 Avon Blvd. in the Chelsea Square Apartments in Kissimmee after receiving a report of a missing 9-year-old girl.  The child was unfortunately found unresponsive in a nearby retention pond on the subdivision and could not be resuscitated.  She was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is on-going, and currently appears to be an accidental drowning.

There are no other details available at this time, but we will update this article if additional information is made available to Positively Osceola.

We encourage everyone to remember that with all the recent rains Osceola County is receiving, retention ponds are increasing in level and pose a great hazard to unsupervised children.
