Starting today, July 1, 2017, Uber and Left will be allowed to pick up and drop off passengers at Orlando International Airport (MCO). As a result of recent changes in a new Florida state law and the City of Orlando passing a new ordinance Uber and Lyft are expected to be a very visible transportation choice at OIA.

New operating guidelines for Uber and Lyft now include two designated pick-up locations along the second level curb directly outside bag claim area on both the A and B sides of the Main Terminal.

There has been much discussion in the community about whether allowing Uber and Lyft to pick up passengers at the Orlando Airport would present new safety challenges for OIA. However, the new agreement will provide technology to manage Transportation Network Companies(TNC) activities and sets customer service rules the TNC’s will have to abide by, including making sure their vehicles are clearly marked with a logo for passenger safety and convenience.

How to get picked up by Uber at MCO Airport

1. Request when you’re ready to walk outside.

Once you’ve gathered your baggage, choose a ride option that suits your group size, pricing and luggage storage needs.

2. Exit on the right level.

If you selected uberX or uberXL as your vehicle option, exit via Arrivals on Level 2 and wait for your driver curbside.

If you selected UberSELECT, head to Level 1 and walk to the Express Pickup Tunnel located directly next to the rental car counters.

3. Confirm your driver.

Always check that your driver’s license plate matches what you see in the app. If you can’t find your driver, contact him or her through the app.

Riders can expect an Airport service charge of $5.80, which was a point of contention between OIA, Uber, Lyft and the Taxi services.

How to get picked up by Lyft at MCO Airport

The method is very similar to Uber, and we will share details as soon as Lyft responds back to our request or updates their website.

Are you an UBER driver? This is how pickup requests work at Orlando International Airport:

It’s easy to receive trip requests from riders leaving the airport. However, these trips work a little differently than other requests—and the pickup experiences for uberX and UberSELECT are different.

To receive a trip request at MCO, you need to enter the dedicated staging lot, where you will be placed in line to receive a pickup request from the airport. There are different staging lots for uberX and UberSELECT.

Here’s how it works:

uberX & uberXL:

Drive into the dedicated staging area located in the South Park Place Economy Parking lot off Access Rd.
You’ll be placed in line for the next pickup—pickups work on a first-in, first-out basis
Once you receive a request, accept it and pick up your rider at Arrivals on Level 2
If the airport is crowded, consider contacting your rider to confirm their exact location
UberSELECT:

Drive into the dedicated staging area located off Bear Rd.
You’ll be placed in line for the next pickup—pickups work on a first-in, first-out basis
Once you receive a request, accept it and pick up your rider at the Express Pickup Tunnel on Level 1
If the airport is crowded, consider contacting your rider to confirm their exact location
Note: If you are an UberSELECT driver, you can stage in the uberX lot if you want to accept uberX trip requests; however, you must display trade dress at all times

All uberX and uberXL ride pickups must occur at Arrivals on Level 2

All UberSELECT ride pickups must occur in the Express Pickup Tunnel on Level 1
uberX, XL, uberFAMILY, and SELECT drivers are all permitted to drop riders off anywhere at the airport

UberSELECT drivers who wish to stage in the uberX lot and accept uberX trip requests must display trade dress
