ORLANDO — The UCF Knights went toe-to-toe with the nation’s top-ranked team Saturday night at Addition Financial Arena, but a late push fell short as No. 1 Arizona held on for an 84–77 victory in a Big 12 showdown.

UCF guard Themus Fulks delivered a standout performance, scoring a career-high 30 points to lead all players. Fulks added eight assists and five rebounds while carrying the Knights offensively through long stretches of the game before fouling out in the closing minutes.

Arizona entered the contest undefeated and showed why, building an early lead and answering each UCF surge with timely baskets. The Wildcats were led by Jaden Bradley, who finished with 23 points, while Brayden Burries contributed 18. Motiejus Krivas added a strong inside presence with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

After falling behind by double digits in the first half, UCF found its rhythm late. Jordan Burks sparked a key run that helped the Knights trim the deficit to just three points heading into halftime, shifting momentum and energizing the home crowd.

The second half featured multiple swings, with UCF repeatedly cutting the margin into single digits and threatening to pull even. However, foul trouble and Arizona’s efficiency at the free-throw line down the stretch prevented the Knights from completing the comeback.

Despite the loss, UCF showed resilience and competitiveness against the nation’s top team, finishing the night at 14–3 overall and 3–2 in Big 12 play. Arizona remained unbeaten on the season.

The Knights now prepare for another major test as they head back on the road to face No. 2 Iowa State in their next outing.

Orlando, Fla. — Riding momentum from a strong 3–1 start to the 2025–26 season, the UCF Knights return to Addition Financial Arena tonight to host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies at 7 p.m. The matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the programs as the Knights try to secure their third home win of the year and improve to 4–1.

Through four games, UCF ranks among the top three-point shooting teams in the country, hitting 52.4 percent from deep. Senior guard Riley Kugel leads the team with 13 made threes and a 65 percent mark from long range, while Carmelo Pacheco has added 11 threes at a 64.7 percent clip.

The Knights have already posted multiple games with 13 or more made threes this season, showing an ability to get hot quickly and overwhelm opponents from the perimeter.

Kugel enters tonight at 998 career points, needing just two more to become the next UCF player to reach the 1,000-point mark. He has been UCF’s go-to offensive threat early in the season, averaging 18.0 points per game.

UCF replaced all of its scoring from last season but has quickly built chemistry with an entirely new group of contributors. The likely starting lineup tonight features:

Themus Fulks (G): A dynamic playmaker averaging 6.8 assists per game.

Riley Kugel (G): Team’s leading scorer.

Jamichael Stillwell (G): Averaging 13.5 points and 5.0 rebounds.

Jordan Burks (G/F): Coming off a career-high 21 points at Texas A&M.

John Bol (C): A 7-foot-2 rim protector making an early impact.

Fulks has been critical in directing the offense and currently ranks sixth in the nation in total assists.

UCF’s confidence is high after an impressive 86–74 road win at Texas A&M. The Knights rallied from 14 down, using efficient scoring, timely defense, and a flurry of second-half threes. Burks led the comeback with back-to-back threes and finished with a career night.

The win marked UCF’s second straight victory over the Aggies dating back to last season.

Oakland enters at 1–3, looking to regain its footing under head coach Greg Kampe, now in his 42nd season. Though tonight is the first-ever matchup between the schools, the Golden Grizzlies have a long track record of challenging high-major opponents.

UCF will aim to push the pace — the Knights rank among the top teams nationally in tempo — while continuing to generate turnovers, a trademark of Johnny Dawkins’ teams.

The Knights’ homecourt identity will again be on display as the fan-favorite “Fear the Fronds” tradition returns. Palm fronds waved by the student section have become one of college basketball’s most memorable free-throw distractions, contributing to missed free throws and energizing home crowds.

Improve UCF to 4–1

Mark the Knights’ third home victory of the season

By Positively Osceola Sports Staff

LUBBOCK, TX – The UCF Knights (4-5, 1-5 Big 12) travel west to face one of their toughest challenges of the 2025 season on Saturday afternoon, taking on the No. 6 Texas Tech Red Raiders (9-1, 6-1 Big 12) at Jones AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

This marks the second-ever meeting between the programs — the first coming in 2023 when Texas Tech edged out UCF in a one-point thriller, 24–23. The Knights will aim to flip the script and secure their fourth-ever victory over an AP Top-10 opponent.

Knights Aiming to Bounce Back

After a heartbreaking 30–27 loss to Houston in last week’s Space Game — the first defeat in the event’s nine-year history — UCF looks to regroup under head coach Scott Frost. Despite the loss, senior defensive back Phillip Dunnam was electric, recording three interceptions (including a 43-yard pick-six), earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors.

UCF’s defense remains one of the team’s bright spots, ranked 12th nationally in passing defense, allowing just 168.2 yards per game. The Knights have surrendered the fewest explosive plays (20+ yards) in the Big 12 this season.

Edge rusher Malachi Lawrence continues to anchor UCF’s front line, entering the matchup with 20 career sacks, ranking ninth among all active FBS players. The Knights’ first-quarter dominance has been a calling card — they’ve shut out opponents in seven of nine opening frames this season and allow just 2.3 first-quarter points per game, 11th best in the nation.

UCF’s fourth-quarter defense has also tightened up late, giving up the 14th fewest points nationally in the final period and holding opponents under 100 total yards in each of their last five fourth quarters.

Offense Looking for Spark

Offensively, the Knights have shown balance, averaging 402.6 total yards per game, with 186.3 rushing and 216.2 passing. The ground attack, featuring Jaden Nixon and Myles Montgomery, has delivered several long runs — Nixon alone has four touchdown runs of 50+ yards this season.

Kicker Noe Ruelas has been one of the Knights’ most consistent weapons, tying his career-long 54-yard field goal last week. He is the first UCF player ever to hit three field goals of 50+ yards in a single season.

The Red Raiders, led by head coach Joey McGuire, are on a roll after a dominant 29–7 win over No. 8 BYU. Quarterback Behren Morton has thrown for 1,969 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while running back Cameron Dickey powers the ground game with 867 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Defensively, Tech boasts All-Big 12 standouts Jacob Rodriguez and David Bailey, part of a unit allowing just 12.6 points per game, third-best in the nation. The Raiders are the only FBS team this year with two wins over CFP Top 15 opponents, defeating BYU and Utah.

What’s at Stake

A win in Lubbock would not only give UCF its fifth victory of the year — surpassing last season’s total — but also mark the program’s first road win of 2025 and a monumental triumph against a top-ranked opponent.

It would also be UCF’s first victory over an AP Top-10 team since its historic Peach Bowl win against No. 7 Auburn in 2018.

Game Information

Kickoff: Saturday, Nov. 15 – 3:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. CT
Location: Jones AT&T Stadium – Lubbock, Texas
TV: FOX
Radio: FM 96.9 / AM 740 The Game – Play-by-play by Marc Daniels and analysis by Gary Parris
Spanish Radio: YouTube.com/UCFKnights – Carlos Bohorquez & Sergio Ruiz Torres

Positively Osceola’s Take

As the Knights hit the road for their final Big 12 stretch, Saturday’s matchup against a surging Texas Tech team will be a true test of resilience and growth for Scott Frost’s squad.

With one of the nation’s stingiest pass defenses, a disruptive edge rush, and a reliable leg in Ruelas, UCF has the pieces to make things interesting in Lubbock. If the Knights can limit turnovers and ignite their ground game early, they could make a little “space history” of their own — this time under the bright West Texas sun.

ORLANDO (Nov. 2, 2025) — The UCF Knights’ hopes for a Big 12 turnaround were once again derailed Saturday afternoon, as they fell 30–3 on the road to the Baylor Bears in Waco, Texas.

First Half: Baylor Takes Control Early

From the outset, the Bears imposed their will. Baylor quarterback Sawyer Robertson tossed three touchdowns, while freshman tailback Caden Knighten piled up 104 yards on the ground. UCF, meanwhile, stumbled to just 125 total yards on the day.

Baylor’s defense went to work shutting down virtually every UCF drive — forcing stops on ten of the Knights’ 11 possessions. With momentum firmly in the Bears’ corner, the Knights were unable to build rhythm on offense.

Head coach Scott Frost didn’t mince words afterward, calling it “as frustrating an offensive performance as I’ve been a part of.” The Knights failed to reach the end zone for the first time in more than a decade.

The statistics tell the story: UCF went 0 for 7 on third- and fourth-down conversions, while being outgained 311 to 125 by Baylor. The rushing attack that had shown flashes—led by Myles Montgomery in earlier games—was completely bottled up.

Baylor’s Balanced Attack and Defensive Efficiency

Baylor’s formula was straightforward: efficient offense, dominant defense. Robertson’s three touchdown passes and Knighten’s run production gave the home team balance, while the Bears’ defense allowed just three points—the fewest they’ve given up to a Big 12 opponent since 2006.

The Bears also limited UCF to under 150 passing yards, exploiting the Knights’ inconsistent secondary coverage and controlling time of possession.

With the loss, UCF falls deeper into the Big 12 cellar at 4-4 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The program’s hopes to rebound after early-season momentum are slipping away.

Looking ahead, UCF must regroup quickly. If the offensive identity doesn’t solidify and the penalties that hurt them Saturday aren’t cleaned up, the remainder of the season could become a grind.

Saturday’s outing was a setback—a muzzle for an offense that has flashed at times but could not withstand Baylor’s full-scale dominance. The defense held up sporadically, but in Big 12 football, a unit can’t carry the load alone. For this UCF team to salvage anything from the season, the offense must rediscover its rhythm and the coaching staff must find answers. Until then, the 2025 campaign remains in search of a defined stride.

The Bounce House was electric Saturday afternoon as the UCF Knights delivered their most complete performance of the season, routing West Virginia 45–13 to secure their first Big 12 victory of 2025. Behind a balanced offensive attack, a suffocating defense, and explosive special teams, the Knights gave fans plenty to cheer about during Homecoming weekend.

UCF wasted no time asserting control. Quarterback Tayven Jackson orchestrated a 97-yard opening drive capped by a 40-yard strike to Chris Domercant, marking the Knights’ longest scoring drive of the season. The pair connected again late in the first quarter on a 34-yard touchdown, giving UCF a 14–0 lead after two scoring drives that showcased rhythm and precision.

The Knights’ offense, led by head coach Scott Frost, looked sharper than it had all season, racking up 578 total yards while converting key fourth downs that extended drives and built confidence. Frost praised his team’s execution, saying the group “played more of a complete game today, and it’s awesome to do it in the Bounce House on Homecoming.”

Running back Jaden Nixon was unstoppable, racking up 116 yards on just seven carries, including an 83-yard sprint in the third quarter — tying for the sixth-longest run in program history. His two touchdowns highlighted a dominant rushing performance that produced 255 yards on the ground.

“We definitely needed this one,” Nixon said after the game. “Being back home on Homecoming, you can’t lose that one. It just feels good to get rolling again and build some momentum for the rest of the season.”

Freshman quarterback Davi Belfort added his first career touchdown on a 10-yard run late in the fourth, sealing the victory and giving UCF its highest point total since September.

While the offense dazzled, the defense may have been even more impressive. Linebacker Keli Lawson returned a fumble 32 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter after defensive end Nyjalik Kelly forced the turnover. The play broke the game open, giving the Knights a 28–7 advantage and energizing the crowd of more than 43,000 at Acrisure Bounce House.

UCF recorded eight sacks, its highest total since 2007, and limited West Virginia to just 210 total yards. The Mountaineers managed only seven points through three quarters and were held to 79 passing yards while averaging just 2.7 yards per play.

“Our defense has been playing really well for a while,” Frost said. “I think this was their most complete game. The strip and score changed the game — that blew it open.”

Kicker Noe Ruelas continued his stellar season with a booming 51-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, marking his second make from 50+ yards this season. His consistency rounded out a complete three-phase effort that saw the Knights dominate time of possession (33:07 to 26:53) and field position.

Saturday’s win also marked UCF’s first-ever victory over West Virginia, improving the Knights’ all-time Homecoming record to 32–14 and snapping a two-game October losing streak dating back to 2022.

Looking Ahead

At 4–3 overall and 1–3 in Big 12 play, UCF heads into its bye week with momentum and renewed confidence. The Knights will return to action November 1, looking to continue their resurgence in conference play.

“This was much needed,” Nixon said. “We can celebrate it this weekend, but Monday we go right back to work.”

Final Score: UCF 45, West Virginia 13
Location: Acrisure Bounce House, Orlando, FL
Attendance: 43,445

Behind a relentless defense, record-setting drives, and a career night from quarterback Tayven Jackson, the UCF Knights rolled past North Carolina 34–9 on Saturday at the Acrisure Bounce House. The win moved UCF to 3–0 on the season, marking the third consecutive year the Knights have opened with that record.

The matchup was the first-ever between the programs, and UCF wasted no time in making history. The Knights held UNC without a touchdown in the first half, a defensive feat they had not achieved against an ACC opponent since 2011. UCF also became the first Big 12 school this year to secure a victory over legendary head coach Bill Belichick, now in his first season leading the Tar Heels.

Quarterback Tayven Jackson turned in a career performance, breaking his single-game records in both rushing and completions. Jackson rushed for a career-high 66 yards, including a 25-yard run that was his longest to date, and added his eighth career rushing touchdown. Through the air, he connected with nine different receivers, marking the first time since 2024 that UCF has spread the ball that widely.

Tight end Kylan Fox hauled in his first career touchdown on a 13-yard strike in the second quarter, while running back Myles Montgomery punched in his first rushing score of the season. The Knights’ offensive highlight came on a grueling 18-play, 93-yard drive that lasted more than ten minutes—the program’s longest in both time and plays since 2012.

UCF’s defense suffocated UNC early, forcing turnovers and preventing rhythm. Freshman Nyjalik Kelly recorded his first career interception after a tipped ball in the opening quarter, while Braeden Marshall added another in the second for his third career pick. Sincere Edwards notched his first full sack of the season, and linebacker Lewis Carter set a new personal best with 10 tackles.

The Knights’ defense has now held every opponent this season scoreless on their opening drives and without a touchdown in the first half, extending an early-season trend of dominance.

Kicker Noe Ruelas remained steady, drilling a season-long 41-yard field goal in the second quarter and finishing 2-for-2 on the night for the second straight game. Ruelas has now converted multiple field goals in back-to-back contests, providing consistency when drives stalled.

Frost’s Streak Grows, Belichick’s Tar Heels Struggle

The victory marked head coach Scott Frost’s third straight win since returning to UCF, bringing his career record at the school to 22–7. Frost’s Knights are now a perfect 8-for-8 on fourth-down conversions this season, a testament to the team’s confidence and execution.

On the opposite sideline, Bill Belichick’s UNC squad dropped to 2–2. The Tar Heels struggled to adjust against UCF’s pressure defense and failed to find the end zone until late, a stark reminder that Belichick’s rebuilding project in Chapel Hill will take time.

Looking Ahead

UCF’s 34–9 win improves the Big 12’s record against the ACC to 6–1 this season and gives the Knights valuable momentum heading into conference play. The Black and Gold will aim to extend their unbeaten start when they return to action on October 4.

Excitement is building in Orlando as the UCF Knights, led by Head Coach Scott Frost, prepare to host the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, now under the direction of newly appointed Head Coach Bill Belichick, in today’s highly anticipated matchup at 3pm at the Bounce House.

The Knights come into today’s contest with their trademark high-tempo offense, a system Frost has emphasized since taking the reins. UCF’s speed on the ground and in the air has challenged opposing defenses all season, and the Knights will look to capitalize early with quarterback-led drives designed to spread the field and create mismatches.

Across the field, North Carolina ushers in a new era with Belichick at the helm. Known for his defensive genius and championship pedigree in the NFL, Belichick’s arrival has generated national attention. While his collegiate debut with UNC is still fresh, expectations are high that he’ll bring discipline, toughness, and a methodical approach to a program eager to reestablish itself on the national stage.

Key Matchups to Watch

UCF Offense vs. UNC Defense: Frost’s high-octane scheme against Belichick’s defensive mind is the storyline to watch. Can UCF’s tempo crack the Tar Heels’ new system?

Quarterback Play: Both programs feature quarterbacks capable of extending plays with their legs and arms. Execution under pressure will be crucial.

Momentum Swings: Special teams and turnovers could be the difference in what many expect to be a tightly contested matchup.

What’s at Stake

For UCF, today is an opportunity to prove once again that the Knights can hang with major-conference programs. For North Carolina, it’s a chance to showcase the impact of Belichick’s leadership and establish a new identity under his watch.

Kickoff is set for this evening at the Bounce House in Orlando, where a packed crowd of Knights fans is ready to create one of the loudest environments in college football.

The UCF Knights made a statement Saturday night at Acrisure Bounce House, rolling past the North Carolina A&T Aggies with a jaw-dropping 68–7 victory in front of more than 44,000 fans.

After a weather delay of roughly 75 minutes, UCF wasted no time taking control. Jaden Nixon electrified the crowd with a 96-yard kickoff return touchdown—marking UCF’s first opening-return score since 2010 and the first kickoff-return TD of any kind since 2017.

Offense Living Up to ‘Fast’

Quarterback Tayven Jackson caught the momentum, leading two lightning-quick touchdown drives and capping both with his own rushing scores. Meanwhile, Nixon kept churning, finishing with 156 rushing yards on just four carries, including dazzling runs of 87 and 66 yards.

Backup Jacurri Brown picked up the second-half pace, bursting for 106 rushing yards on five carries—including a 60-yard dash to the end zone.

Defense Strikes Back

UCF’s defense joined the party early. Nyjalik Kelly forced a strip-sack, with Rodney Lora scooping up the fumble in the end zone for a defensive touchdown. UCF achieved the rare feat of scoring in all three phases—offense, defense, and special teams—all in the first quarter.

The Aggies’ lone score came late, a 17-yard run from Shimique Blizzard with under three minutes remaining. UCF outgained A&T 560 yards to 200 and forced three turnovers.

Marching Knights Bring the Bounce House to Life

Beyond the fireworks on the field, the UCF Marching Knights delivered a show of their own, bringing the Bounce House crowd to its feet with a stirring medley of the Armed Forces themes. Their powerful tribute not only celebrated America’s servicemen and women but also amplified the energy inside the stadium, creating one of the night’s most memorable moments.

The Scott Frost era at UCF got off to a victorious restart last week, as the Knights edged Jacksonville State 17–10 in a hard-fought season opener that was delayed more than two hours by weather. Now, UCF will look to build on that momentum when they host North Carolina A&T this Saturday at the Bounce House.

Frost Returns With a Win

Frost, who engineered UCF’s historic unbeaten 2017 season before departing for Nebraska, picked up right where he left off in his first game back on the sidelines in Orlando. The victory marked his 14th consecutive win as UCF’s head coach, tying him with Florida State’s Mike Norvell and Oregon’s Dan Lanning for the nation’s longest current streak at one school.

Saturday’s matchup provides a chance for Frost to tie Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh, who won 15 straight in 2023 during the Wolverines’ championship campaign.

A Game-Winning Strike

The Knights found themselves locked in a defensive struggle, with the game scoreless at halftime. But with just over a minute remaining, quarterback Tayven Jackson delivered a clutch 33-yard touchdown pass to DJ Black, sealing the win and electrifying the Bounce House crowd.

Black’s heroics were especially notable, as he transferred from Limestone after the Division II program shut down last year. His first start at the Power 4 level couldn’t have been scripted better.

Passing Game Finds Its Rhythm

While UCF’s offense sputtered early, the Knights showcased a renewed emphasis on the passing game. Jackson threw for 282 yards—his second-highest career total—and the team combined for 314 yards through the air. Remarkably, UCF had not eclipsed 300 passing yards in a game since September 2023.

Program Milestones

The victory also carried historic weight, as it was the 300th win in UCF football history, making the Knights the seventh-fastest current Big 12 program to reach that milestone. Since 2017, UCF has posted more wins (70) than any other Big 12 member, placing the program among college football’s most consistent winners.

What’s Next: Knights vs. Aggies

The Knights now turn their attention to North Carolina A&T, led by new head coach Shawn Gibbs. While the Aggies come in from the FCS ranks, UCF won’t be taking the matchup lightly—especially with another chance to extend Frost’s win streak and keep building momentum ahead of tougher Big 12 competition later this month.

Kickoff is set for Saturday evening at the Bounce House, where UCF has won 16 of its last 19 home openers. With fresh uniforms, new turf, and Frost back at the helm, the stage is set for the Knights to keep writing their next chapter in program history.

In a dramatic, weather-delayed opener that tested patience and resilience, the UCF Knights secured a pivotal 17–10 victory over Jacksonville State on Thursday night at Acrisure Bounce House. The win delivers the 300th victory in program history and marks the start of Scott Frost’s second stint with a flourish.

What began as a standard opener turned into an ordeal — nearly five hours in length — thanks to a two-hour, seven-minute lightning delay that paused the action early in the second quarter. When play resumed, UCF leaned on its depth and discipline to grind out a crucial win.

Redshirt senior Cam Fancher began the game as the starter but exited following an injury post-delay. In stepped Tayven Jackson, who commanded the offense with poise—going 17-for-24 passing for 282 yards and two touchdowns. His composure stabilized the offense when it needed it most. Offensive Fireworks and Game-Winning Drive

Jackson found Dylan Wade for a 40-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, pulling UCF ahead 10–3. After Jacksonville State evened the score, the Knights responded with a 64-yard, six-play march in just 32 seconds. Jackson scrambled for 15 yards and then connected with DJ Black on a 33-yard touchdown on a naked bootleg to clinch the win with just over a minute left.

On defense, cornerback Jayden Williams delivered a late-game highlight by stuffing a Jacksonville State fourth-down attempt, flipping momentum back to UCF. The defense held steadfast in the waning moments to preserve the victory.

Milestones and Streaks

The win not only marked UCF’s 300th program victory, but also extended several notable streaks:

The victory became Frost’s 20th career win with the Knights, extending his personal season-opening streak to 14 straight wins.

Running back Myles Montgomery was a consistent force, rushing for 79 yards on 21 carries and adding 71 receiving yards on three catches—giving UCF balanced production and playmaking in key moments.

Final Score: UCF 17, Jacksonville State 10
Record: UCF (1–0)

This gritty and hard-earned victory sets a resilient tone for the Knights as the Big 12 schedule looms ahead. With Frost back in Orlando and milestones falling, the Bounce House atmosphere couldn’t have asked for a more dramatic opener.
