A Kissimmee man who had made arrangements through Craigslist to purchase cell phones ended up shooting the seller, who the buyer said wanted more money for the phones and threatened him, according to Osceola County deputies.

Osceola Sheriff Deputies responded to the Walgreens located at 2050 E. Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee to investigate a report of a shooting. The buyer told deputies he made arrangements through Craigslist to purchase cellphones from the suspect, but when they met at Walgreens to complete the transaction the seller wanted more money, threatened him as he walked toward him, appearing to possibly have a weapon in his waistband.

The buyer told deputies he feared for his life and that he was going to be robbed so he fired several rounds with his gun at the seller causing him to flee the scene in his car. Detectives were able to locate and identify the suspect as Alexander Diaz, who had sustained a gunshot wound from the incident. Diaz was transported to Orlando Regional Hospital with non-life threatening wounds and was later booked into the Orange County Jail for Armed Robbery.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at (407)348-2222. The sheriff’s office would like to remind the public of the many dangers that exist in agreeing to meet unknown people from internet sites or phone apps.
