The 2019 Osceola County Varsity football regular season came to a close officially last weekend, but once again, the No. 3 (8-1)Osceola Kowboys will see post season play when they host the No. 6 Riverview High (8-2) tonight at 7:30pm at Osceola High School for the Class 8A, Region 2 quarterfinal playoff game.

It’s the 9th consecutive championship for the Kowboys who won their last seven games and dominated wth four shutouts during the win streak. The Kowboys rushed for 29 TDs while averaging 295 yards on the ground per game.

When congratulated for this season’s district championship during a recent Positively Osceola LIVE Facebook show, Osceola head coach Doug Nichols responded by saying, “I’m surrounded by some great assistant coaches, and there’s not been much turnover on my staff since I’ve bee back, and someone asked me the other day, What drives you? And between me and the assistant coaches, the fear of losing… is greater than the joy of winning.”

The Kowboys will want to keep that fear of losing at the forefront of their focus for tonight’s game as the Riverview Sharks have averaged 240 yards on the ground per game, 125 yards in the air and have scored 41 TDs this season. The Riverview defense picked off opponents 15 times this year, so the Kowboys will need to be accurate tonight if they’re planning on airing it out tonight against the Sharks.

Coach Nichols will surely be hoping for his defense to add to the 28 sacks it had this season to put some pressure on a Sharks’ offense that averaged 125 yards passing per game.

Kickoff is at 7:30pm and Positively Osceola will be there bringing LIVE action, score updates and more from Osceola High School in Kissimmee! The winner of tonight’s game will move on to a Regional Semifinal game against the winner of the (7-3-0)  Lennard at (8-2-0) Dr. Phillips game.
