Shortly after 8am Thursday morning the St. Cloud Police Department received a report that a crossing guard on the intersection of US192 and Michigan Avenue had been struck by a vehicle.
Once on the scene the officers confirmed that one of the St. Cloud Police Department School Crossing Guards had indeed been struck by a vehicle that had run a red light.
The Crossing Guard suffered severe injuries and was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center for treatment. According to St. Cloud Police, the driver of the vehicle that ran the red light is at-fault for the crash, and is cooperating with the investigation.
All roadways have been reopened. This is an open and ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
