TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Ron DeSantis announced last Friday the appointment of Jolene Sheive to serve on the School Board of Osceola County, selecting a longtime community leader and business professional to help guide one of Central Florida’s fastest-growing school districts.
Sheive will represent District 3 in an interim capacity, bringing more than two decades of residency, civic leadership, and business experience to the role.
“I am grateful and honored to be appointed by the Governor to serve District 3 in this interim School Board role,” Sheive said. “I take this responsibility seriously and am committed to stepping in with focus, integrity, and a collaborative spirit. As I prepare to be sworn in, my priority is to listen, learn, and serve our students, teachers, and families while helping provide continuity and stability for our district.”
Sheive serves as a broker at Legacy Realty of Central Florida and is the owner of Stadium Place Administration. Beyond her professional work in real estate and business operations, she has maintained a strong presence in civic and community leadership throughout Osceola County.
Currently serving as a Planning Commissioner, Sheive has played an active role in guiding growth and long-term development decisions in the community. Her leadership resume also includes serving as Vice Chair of the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce and holding membership and board roles with the Osceola County Association of Realtors, the Osceola Chamber of Commerce, and the Osceola County Education Foundation.
Sheive said her decision to pursue the appointment came after encouragement from members of the community.
“I had several people in the community encourage me to apply, and I’m in a season of life where I can truly commit the time this role deserves, so I felt called to step up and serve,” she said.
The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the School District of Osceola County, which continues to experience sustained enrollment growth along with increasing demand for educational infrastructure, expanded programming, and workforce development initiatives.
Sheive emphasized that her service will focus on stability and collaboration rather than political ambition.
“I have been clear that I have no intention of running for this seat,” she said. “My goal is simply to give back to the community that has given so much to me. I will lead with my heart while following our district’s policies and working together with fellow board members and district leadership. There will be an election in November, and I hope our community finds the best candidate to lead with integrity, collaboration, and a true commitment to students and educators.”
The School Board of Osceola County is responsible for setting district policy, approving budgets, and ensuring academic standards are upheld for students across the county’s public schools.
Governor DeSantis’ announcement was made in Tallahassee on February 13.
