Give Kids The World Village was selected by the Bahama Breeze in Kissimmee to receive a $10,000 grant from the Darden Foundation, the charitable arm of the restaurant’s parent company, Darden Restaurants.

The donation will support Give Kids The World’s goal to bring happiness and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Each year, the nonprofit resort of Kissimmee welcomes more than 8,000 children and families, on a wish trip to visit central Florida’s theme parks. The “storybook” resort provides a cost-free, weeklong vacation that includes accommodations in a whimsical villa, meals, transportation and donated tickets to theme parks and area attractions.

“On behalf of Give Kids The World Village and the precious families that we serve, we sincerely thank the management and staff at the Kissimmee Bahama Breeze and the Darden Foundation for this wonderful gift,” said Pamela Landwirth, president & CEO of Give Kids The World Village.

Nationally, all 36 Bahama Breeze locations recently participated in a sales competition to determine which nonprofits would receive $10,000 grants. The top location in each of the restaurant’s five regions were able to select a benefiting nonprofit, making for a combined donation of $50,000.

“At Bahama Breeze, we’re passionate about helping our local communities thrive,” said Dan Escolas, general manager of the Kissimmee location. “Our team members are proud to help Give Kids The World Village make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
