Last Sunday Positively Osceola was invited to attend the viewing of the FHSAA Playoff Bracket release show where the Longhorns found out that they would be hosting the Kathleen Indians from Lakeland in the Region 2 playoff. Kathleen High School had a strong season at 5-4 but were crushed on the final game of the season 50-0 by Lakeland High School. They’ll be looking to light upon their offense tonight against the Longhorns, and get back on the offensive track they had a few weeks prior when they took out Lehigh High School 40-34 and Bartow 54-8.

For the Longhorns they’ll be looking to do what they’ve done all season, and that is to start fast and end faster! Harmony averaged 156.9 yards per game in the air and 174.2 yards on the ground this season. They scored a dominating 53 touchdowns, but the offense wasn’t the only thing working on all cylinders for the Longhorns, the defense had 73 tackles, 51 sacks and 21 interceptions on the year, so it was definitely a team effort this year at Harmony High School. Coach Don Simon said, “This year to last year was night and day. It was two different teams. This year the kids really came together and really worked as a unit. It was a team effort.”

The Longhorns went 9-1 overall this year and 6-0 in district play, and achieved their first District Championship since 2007. The stands will be filled tonight, the band will be playing and entertaining the crowd during half-time, and the athletic booster will be serving up the best in fresh grilled hamburgers, so head out and support the Longhorns as they do their best to continue this amazing season one week at a time. As Coach Simon said, We’re in a series of one game schedules now. We win, we move. That’s it.”

Positively Osceola wishes the Longhorns great luck and we’ll be here to provide LIVE coverage, score updates and much more for those who can’t attend the game. #GoLonghorns!
