A 34-year-old man is facing a first-degree murder charge after attacking his father, then running him over with a truck at the Knights Inn Motel last week, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, an argument between Alberto Gonzalez-Velazquez and his father, Alberto Gonzalez Sr., began in a Kissimmee restaurant’s parking lot before the two left together in a gray truck. The truck then ended up in a crash near West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and Bass Road, and according to Osceola deputies, the two then left the scene and drove off to the Knights Inn Motel.

At the motel, the argument escalated between the two men and the suspect attacked the victim, according to the news release.

Deputies responded to the Knights Inn Motel in Kissimmee after receiving reports of a shooting and found the victim with life-threatening injuries. The victim, whose name and age was not stated in the news release, was taken to the HCA Florida Osceola Hospital to be treated for stab wounds. The man died on Oct. 22, according to officials.

Witnesses said they also heard gunfire during the confrontation and then saw Alberto Jose Gonzalez-Velazquez Jr. run over his father in a grey pickup truck before driving away in the gray truck. Deputies later found Gonzalez-Velazquez at an Aldi’s grocery store, and arrested him.

Gonzalez-Velazquez was booked into the Polk County Jail for attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and is now facing premeditated first-degree murder, after his father died in the hospital.
