Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has announced the appointment of Richard Mark Flury as the utility’s new Vice President of Engineering and Operations, effective on Monday July 14.

Bringing more than 25 years of engineering experience to the role, Flury will oversee several key operational divisions within KUA, including transmission and distribution, geographic information systems (GIS), substation maintenance, materials management, fleet operations, SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), relay, and dispatch and compliance. He will report directly to KUA President and General Manager Brian Horton.

Prior to joining KUA, Flury served at Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD) No. 1 in Washington since 2011, most recently as Senior Manager of Transmission & Distribution, System Operations & Engineering. During his tenure, he led a wide range of departments, including Transmission and Distribution Engineering, Plat Engineering, Real Estate, GIS, Maps & Records, Joint Use and Permitting, Standards Engineering, Scheduling, Energy Control Center, System Planning & Protection, and Operations Technologies.

Before his work at Snohomish PUD, Flury held leadership roles in civil engineering, land planning, and land surveying as a project manager for engineering firms.

An Army veteran, Flury earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and holds a Professional Engineer license in the state of Washington.
