KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Kissimmee Utility Authority is celebrating a major milestone—serving 100,000 customers—by giving back to the community it powers every day. In partnership with the City of Kissimmee, KUA has helped illuminate historic downtown Kissimmee with a permanent lighting installation along Broadway, creating a festive and welcoming centerpiece for residents, businesses, and visitors.
As part of the project, KUA wrapped 18 iconic oak trees lining Broadway with thousands of twinkling lights, transforming the downtown corridor into a warm gathering space. The installation reflects KUA’s long-standing commitment to the City of Kissimmee and highlights the pride the community-owned utility takes in serving a growing, vibrant region.
“Reaching 100,000 customers is more than just a number—it represents the trust this community has placed in KUA over generations,” said Brian Horton, KUA’s President and General Manager. “We wanted to mark this milestone in a way that brings people together, celebrates our shared history, and helps make downtown Kissimmee shine during the holidays and beyond.”
Designed as a permanent, year-round feature, the lighting system offers more than 30 color combinations, allowing the historic oak trees to be illuminated for holidays, special events, and community celebrations throughout the year. In addition to enhancing the charm of downtown, the project supports local businesses by creating an inviting atmosphere that encourages residents and visitors to spend time in the area.
Founded in 1901, Kissimmee Utility Authority is Florida’s sixth-largest community-owned utility, now powering 100,000 customers across Osceola County. The illuminated trees along Broadway serve as a lasting visual reminder of KUA’s deep roots in the community and its role in powering both progress and tradition.
