Osceola County families had an opportunity to come out to Lakeview Elementary School in St. Cloud today to take part in a Literacy Extravaganza. The event was a wrap up to a wonderful week in our local schools where children got to participate in a lot of great events and activities centered around the importance of early literacy.
Several businesses were on hand to pass out books to the children in attendance. Kisselback Ford, a huge supporter of our local schools, had books specific to grade level for each child. Children had an opportunity to take home several new books from over 30 local businesses at the event. Kids were in for a special treat no matter what they are interested in. Present at the event was everything from mascots from the Orlando Solar Bears, Florida Firefrogs, and Lakeview’s own Dolphin, to Princesses and Rodeo Queens.
The School District of Osceola County work hard, as does our community, to focus on our children and support their learning and growth. Early Literacy programs are a way to ensure that we are fostering from a young age a love for reading. A love of books leads to a wonderful imagination and strong sense of creativity.
