A 22-year-old woman and a 4-month-old girl were both killed in a head-on crash that took place Thursday morning on State Road 60, according to the Florida Troopers.
The crash took place around 11 a.m. west of Peavine Road near Kenansville, west of Yeah Junction.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the woman, the 4-month-old, a 1-year-old girl and the woman’s adult sister, were all from Miami, and were traveling east along State Road 60 in a black Nissan Altima. At the same time, a red Mazda SUV was driving west along State Road 60.
When the Altima traveled into the westbound lane to pass another vehicle, it struck the Mazda head-on, troopers said.
In the crash report, troopers said after the crash the Altima then went off the roadway and overturned, and the Mazda came to a final rest nearby.
A green Toyota Tacoma and a sedan struck debris as a result of the crash, but no one in the two vehicles suffered any injuries, the report shows.
The 22-year-old driver of the Altima and the 4-month-old girl, who was in a rear-facing child seat behind her, were declared dead at the scene, troopers said.
The 1-year-old and the adult passenger were taken to the hospital in critical condition, the report says.
According to FHP, the 4-month-old girl was the adult passenger’s daughter, and the 1-year-old was the driver’s daughter.
The driver of the Mazda was also taken to the hospital in critical condition. The passenger in the Mazda, although seriously injured is in stable condition, troopers said.
