The Osceola Council on Aging is dedicated to providing services to enable independence and self-sufficiency for seniors, disabled adults, the disadvantaged and families in poverty. One of the services Osceola Council on Aging provides is a special Pet Program that is geared towards Meals on Wheels and Senior Dining Club members who have pets.

This program began 12 years ago when one of the Osceola Council on Aging volunteers, Jimmy Scarborough notice that many of the seniors he was delivering meals to often shared their meals with their pets.  Knowing this wasn’t right and that there was a need for pet food as well he started buying pet food and delivering it to his seniors.

With the help of many pet businesses, agencies, and personal donations, Osceola Council on Aging has been able to help feed the pets of many of their Meals on Wheels and Senior Dining Club members. Sadly, Jimmy passed away but to honor and remember the positive difference he made in the lives of the seniors he served and their pets the program was named after him,  Jimmy’s Pets Program.

Osceola Council on Aging would like to thank all of the donors for their generosity; Kissimmee Valley & Feed (St. Cloud), Sittin’ Pretty (Kissimmee), SNiP-it (Kissimmee), Osceola County Animal Services and Pet Supermarket (St. Cloud). Currently, there are 41 recipients who receive pet food on a monthly basis.

Osceola Council on Aging is always in need of donations of pet food for the program, especially cans of wet cat food as most of the seniors have cats.  Small bites dry dog food and Pedigree wet can food would be greatly appreciated for seniors who own dogs.
