KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Osceola County Board of County Commissioners approved a package of measures Monday supporting the continued expansion of the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate Conference Center, a project designed to increase convention capacity and generate additional tourism-driven economic activity throughout Osceola County.

The board approved Ordinance 2026-45, one of several agenda items tied to the next phase of the conference center’s expansion. The ordinance extends the collection period of an existing voluntary special assessment that has helped finance the conference center since it was established through a public-private partnership in 2008.

Monday’s action is part of a broader initiative that also includes a proposed $20 million Tourist Development Tax investment and financing for an approximately 60,000-square-foot expansion of the ChampionsGate Conference Center. The project is expected to increase the resort’s capacity to host larger conventions, trade shows, corporate meetings, and other major events, further strengthening Osceola County’s position as a leading meetings and conventions destination.

The conference center has become a key component of Osceola County’s tourism economy, attracting visitors from around the country whose spending supports local hotels, restaurants, attractions, retail businesses, and jobs throughout the community.

Under the public-private partnership established in 2008, a voluntary 1% special assessment is collected on hotel room rentals within the benefited property to help finance the conference center and support its long-term development. Monday’s ordinance extends the duration of that existing assessment as part of the overall financing strategy for the project.

According to the county’s Business Impact Estimate, the ordinance does not establish a new assessment or impose additional costs on businesses. Instead, it continues the existing agreement involving the three entities participating in the partnership: Rida Associates Limited Partnership, Omni-ChampionsGate Resort Hotel, LLC, and ChampionsGate Rental Manager I, LP.

County staff recommended approval of the ordinance as part of the larger package supporting the conference center expansion, noting that the measure complements the financing and development agreements also presented to commissioners during Monday’s meeting.

The expansion marks another significant investment in Osceola County’s growing tourism infrastructure. By increasing the conference center’s capacity, county leaders aim to attract more large-scale meetings and conventions that generate overnight stays, boost visitor spending, and create additional economic opportunities for businesses across the county.

Once completed, the expanded ChampionsGate Conference Center is expected to further elevate Osceola County’s reputation as one of Florida’s top destinations for meetings, conventions, and group travel, building on the success of a resort that has become a cornerstone of the region’s hospitality industry.
