The Osceola County Commissioners met on Monday, March 4, 2019, to recognize some very important people and present Proclamations to two influential organizations.

Ms. Denise Davis was awarded the Spirit Award for her loyalty and dedication to providing excellent customer service while being employed for Osceola County. Ms. Davis’ commitment to excellence will be missed as she is retiring at the end of the month after working in customer service for 35 years.

Hector Morales,  received Employee of the Month for March 2019. Hector currently works in the Fleet Division as Fleet Manager. Osceola County Fleet Management provides services to Osceola County Departments. These services include vehicle and equipment repairs, fleet acquisition and disposal. Fleet also operates and maintains a countywide vehicle refueling system. Within a short period of time, Hector has changed the direction of the fleet division and has been recognized in the Top 100 Fleet Organizations for 2 consecutive years.

The County Commissioners also recognized employees celebrating milestone anniversaries of service with the county. Eric Leinsing with the Corrections Department and Eileen Perez-Calkins with the Solid Waste Department have both been employed for Osceola County for 20 years.

Commissioner Hawkins presented a Proclamation declaring March 29, 2019, to be known as National Vietnam War Veterans Day in Osceola County. Vinnie Monitto, Secretary/Treasurer, for the Vietnam Veterans of America Osceola County 755. The Museum of Military History will be hosting the Commander’s Call, Osceola County’s Veterans Expo on March 16, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

There are eight young men who’s names are engraved on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, that went into the service from Osceola County over 50 years ago. They were willing to risk and eventually give their lives for their country. Chairwoman Cheryl Grieb presented Wilda Belisle, Meals on Wheels Director for the Osceola Council on Aging with a Proclamation declaring March 2019, to be known as March for Meals and National Nutrition Month in Osceola County. The Osceola Council on Aging will be hosting their March for Meals St. Patrick’s 5K Run/Walk on March 16, 2019, at the Kissimmee Lakefront.  This is a fun run event to create awareness of senior hunger and to raise money for the Meals on Wheels program in Osceola County through the Osceola Council on Aging.
