The Osceola Magic, in collaboration with Florida Blue, made a significant impact in the fight against hunger in Central Florida this season. For every blocked shot the Magic recorded at home, Florida Blue committed to donating 10 meals to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. The Magic are on pace to record over 130 blocks this season at home, and in addition, Florida Blue will be donating extra meals to the community.

This philanthropic initiative has proven to be a slam dunk, with Florida Blue proudly announcing a generous donation of 13,750 meals across Central Florida. The Magic’s commitment to community well-being aligns seamlessly with Florida Blue’s dedication to fostering a healthier, more resilient region.

“We are proud to join forces with the Osceola Magic to help combat food security challenges within our Central Florida community.  At Florida Blue, we believe no one should go hungry. By working together, we can all make a tremendous impact in the lives of those in need,” said Tony Jenkins, Central Florida Market President, Florida Blue.

“The partnership has been a source of pride for both organizations, especially considering the pressing issue of food insecurity in the local community,” said President of the Osceola Magic, Hans Steinbrenner “Our partnership with Florida Blue is incredibly meaningful; fighting local hunger is one of the Osceola Magic’s main community initiatives. We are proud to continue to help feed our community alongside Florida Blue.”

As one of the Magic’s three focus areas and one of Florida Blue’s community pillars, hunger remains a point of emphasis for the two organizations (research below provided by Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida).

  2. 155,530 children in Central Florida experience food insecurity.
