“I’m honored to serve as Vice President of FSBA and continue Osceola County’s strong legacy of leadership within the association,” said Kahoun. “Our school board has a proud history of contributing to FSBA’s mission, with former board member Tim Weisheyer having served as President, and current Vice-Chair Terry Castillo also serving on the FSBA executive leadership team. This tradition reflects our deep commitment to advancing public education not just in Osceola County, but across Florida, and I look forward to working with my fellow officers to support school boards statewide in their vital work of serving our students and communities.”

The 2025–2026 FSBA Executive Leadership Team includes:

This year’s conference, themed “Lights, Camera, Leadership,” featured keynote speaker Matt Lehrman, Managing Director of Social Prosperity Partners. His keynote, From Conflict to Conversation, provided practical tools for school leaders to navigate disagreement and transform tension into productive dialogue—skills critical to building consensus and improving student outcomes.

The closing keynote, Strategic Planning: Shaping the Future with Purpose and Vision, was presented by Osceola’s own Tim Weisheyer, former FSBA President. The session highlighted the power of long-term vision, milestone tracking, and inclusive engagement in shaping successful school districts.

Attendees also received a legislative session update from Dr. Danielle Thomas, FSBA’s Director of Advocacy & Legislative Services, who addressed major education-related developments from the 2025 Legislative Session, including school safety and start time policies.

The FSBA/FADSS Annual Summer Conference is known for empowering school board members with fresh insights, peer collaboration, and strategic tools to support student success across Florida.

FSBA CEO Andrea Messina emphasized the importance of the event:

“This conference empowers our members to think bigger and lead smarter. It’s more than a professional gathering—it’s a catalyst for stronger governance and better outcomes for students across Florida.”

As Vice President, Heather Kahoun will help lead FSBA’s mission to support school boards statewide through advocacy, innovation, and effective governance—continuing Osceola County’s proud tradition of leadership at the state level.
