Publix Super Markets Charities has announced a generous $300,000 donation to support flood relief efforts in Texas. The funds will be split between the San Angelo Disaster Relief Fund and the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, assisting local communities impacted by the deadly flash floods that recently devastated parts of the state.
“We extend our sympathies to the families that have been devastated by the loss of life and damage caused by the recent flash floods in Texas,” said John Doran, Executive Director of Publix Charities. “While the devastation is outside Publix’s operating area, we are very familiar with how natural disasters can affect a community and feel compelled to help.”
The donation will go toward supporting community foundations that are working alongside local organizations to provide immediate assistance and contribute to long-term recovery efforts in the flood-affected regions.
Publix’s commitment to philanthropy dates back to its founder, George Jenkins, who established Publix Super Markets Charities in 1966. Jenkins believed in the power of giving back to the community, and his vision has shaped the company’s charitable efforts for nearly six decades. Publix Charities remains dedicated to continuing this legacy by supporting not only the communities where it operates but also those in need across the country.
