ORLANDO, Fla. — Roller coaster fans looking for a reason to throw their hands in the air Sunday will have eight of them at SeaWorld Orlando.

SeaWorld Orlando will celebrate National Roller Coaster Day on Sunday, Aug. 16, by challenging guests to conquer all eight of the park’s roller coasters in a single day as part of its “Ultimate Challenge.”

The park opens at 9 a.m., when guests can visit the SeaWorld Store to begin the challenge. The first 1,000 participants, while supplies last, can receive an Ultimate Challenge lanyard and limited-edition commemorative poster before setting out to tackle the park’s coaster lineup.

And completing the challenge means riding everything from one of Orlando’s biggest thrill rides to a coaster designed for some of the park’s youngest riders.

The eight-coaster lineup includes Mako, Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, Penguin Trek, Ice Breaker, Manta, Kraken, Journey to Atlantis and Super Grover’s Box Car Derby.

Leading the pack is Mako, which reaches speeds of up to 73 mph and rises 200 feet above the park. SeaWorld bills the hypercoaster as Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster.

Guests can also take on Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, a first-of-its-kind attraction designed to create the sensation of surfing; experience the Arctic-themed launch coaster Penguin Trek; or brave Ice Breaker, which combines multiple launches with a 100-degree beyond-vertical drop.

The challenge continues with Manta, where riders experience the attraction in a face-down flying position; the floorless Kraken; the coaster-and-water-ride combination Journey to Atlantis; and Super Grover’s Box Car Derby in Sesame Street Land.

This year’s celebration also coincides with a milestone for Mako, which is marking its 10th anniversary.

SeaWorld Annual Pass Members will have an opportunity to get a rare look behind the scenes with special Mako tours at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday. Each tour is limited to 50 participants, with reservations available in person at the SkyTower Tour Desk on a first-come, first-served basis for Pass Members present at registration.

Pass Members can also pick up an exclusive Mako anniversary ride lanyard and pouch at Reef Treasures from Aug. 16 through Aug. 31, while supplies last.

For coaster fans who want another souvenir from the day, SeaWorld will also offer an exclusive 2026 National Roller Coaster Day T-shirt for purchase at the SeaWorld Store on Sunday while supplies last.

SeaWorld is encouraging guests attempting all eight rides to arrive early, use the park’s mobile app to monitor attraction wait times and locations, and stay hydrated throughout the day. Those who finish the challenge can share their accomplishment on social media using #SeaWorldCoasterChallenge.

National Roller Coaster Day festivities begin when SeaWorld Orlando opens at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16. Challenge merchandise and commemorative items are available only while supplies last.
