Osceola County officially expanded the number of fire stations it operates on Tuesday when it inaugurated Station 45, its 17th in the county and the second new fire station added this year. Station 67 on Boggy Creek Road near Austin-Tindall Park was placed into service in June.
Station 45, which aligns with the department’s master plan to accommodate the rapid growth occurring in that area of the county, is located at 4490 Calypso Cay Way near State Road 535 and sets a record for the highest number of stations in service since the inception of the professional Fire Rescue and EMS service in 1989. The station is staffed with 21 people, 7 per shift, 3 shifts per day. Stations that have a ‘tower ladder engine’ are staffed with an additional 3 people.
“The next emphasis will be replacing the Campbell City station that needs to be moved near where the tax collectors office is located, as well as moving two other stations in the county, Pine Grove and Narcoossee,” Osceola County Fire Chief Larry Collier shared during the uncoupling ceremony.
The county has added 126 positions in the last four years, and according to Osceola County Fire Chief Larry Collier, that rate of growth in staffing will continue as the county continues to grow.
“Station 45 is the latest example of the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners efforts to bolster public safety,” expressed Osceola County Commission Chairwoman Viviana Janer. “Through our investment in fire rescue and EMS infrastructure, we are continuing our commitment to rapid and effective emergency response for residents.”
The new station aligns with the department’s master plan with a focus on accommodating the rapid growth occurring in that area of the county.
The 4-bay 12,290-square-foot station state-of-the-art station is designed to withstand severe weather events — up to 150 mph wind speed. The County has also increased the size of the “community room” – so the facility can better host small group meetings and can accommodate potential use as a polling location.
Station 45, which is just off of SR 535 on the west side of the county, will enhance the level of fire protection and emergency response for areas near the Indian Wells community, Poinciana Boulevard’s north end, International Drive, and Old Town.
“I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the Commission and the County Manager for their unwavering commitment and support to this process,” said Osceola County Fire Chief Larry Collier. “Station 45, along with the other stations we have built and will build, marks a commitment to action to protect lives and property when our community calls. Osceola County Fire Rescue continually strives to enhance the level of service it provides to the community. We are committed to excellence in emergency response, fire prevention, and community education.”
The County Commission has allocated substantial funding to support the construction of new stations, acquire life-saving equipment, and create additional positions within the department, officials noted. Ground was also broken for a replacement station in Poinciana, while planning is underway for a new station on West 192 near Entry Point Boulevard, a second station in Poinciana and a replacement station in the four corners area.

“La estación 45 es el ejemplo más reciente de los esfuerzos de la Junta de Comisionados del Condado de Osceola para reforzar la seguridad pública”, expresó la presidenta de la Comisión del Condado de Osceola, Viviana Janer. “A través de nuestra inversión en infraestructura de rescate contra incendios y EMS, continuamos con nuestro compromiso de brindar una respuesta de emergencia rápida y efectiva para los residentes”.
La nueva estación se alinea con el plan maestro del departamento con un enfoque en adaptarse al rápido crecimiento que ocurre en esa zona del condado.
La nueva estación de última generación no sólo representa un logro significativo, sino que mejora el nivel de protección contra incendios y respuesta de emergencia para la comunidad.
“Quiero extender mi más profundo agradecimiento a la Comisión y al Administrador del Condado por su inquebrantable compromiso y apoyo a este proceso”, dijo el Jefe de Bomberos del Condado de Osceola, Larry Collier. “La Estación 45, junto con las otras estaciones que hemos construido y construiremos, marca un compromiso de acción para proteger vidas y propiedades cuando nuestra comunidad llame. La Comisión del Condado ha asignado fondos sustanciales para apoyar la construcción de nuevas estaciones, adquirir equipos que salvan vidas y crear puestos adicionales dentro del departamento, señalaron los funcionarios. Además de la Estación 45, la Estación 67 entró en servicio en el Distrito 5 en junio. También se inició la construcción de una estación de reemplazo en Poinciana, mientras se está planificando una nueva estación en West 192 cerca de Entry Point Boulevard, una segunda estación en Poinciana y una estación de reemplazo en el área de las cuatro esquinas.
