]]> As Hurricane Milton approaches, Osceola County has opened multiple emergency shelters for residents seeking a safe refuge. While no mandatory evacuations are currently in effect, residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas, or homes with potential structural issues, are advised to prepare evacuation plans. The following shelters will open on Wednesday, October 9, at 8 a.m.:

  • Celebration High School – 1809 Celebration Blvd., Kissimmee, FL 34747
  • Gateway High School (Pet-Friendly) – 93 Panther Paws Trail, Kissimmee, FL 34744
  • Harmony High School (Pet-Friendly) – 3601 Arthur J. Gallagher Blvd., St. Cloud, FL 34771
  • Holopaw Community Center – 8801 Community Center Rd., St. Cloud, FL 34773
  • Kenansville Community Center – 1178 S Canoe Creek Rd., Kenansville, FL 34739
  • Kissimmee Middle School (Pet-Friendly) – 2410 Dyer Blvd., Kissimmee, FL 34741
  • Liberty High School (Pet-Friendly) – 4250 Pleasant Hill Rd., Kissimmee, FL 34746

Additional shelters include:

  • Osceola Council on Aging (Special Medical Needs Shelter) – Opens at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 700 Generation Point, Kissimmee, FL 34744
  • Central Avenue Elementary – Opened at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, for residents of Good Samaritan Village (voluntary)

Residents are encouraged to stay with friends or family if possible and use shelters as a last resort. Those heading to shelters should bring blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, quiet games, battery-powered radios, and any necessary medications. Please refrain from bringing perishable food items, as food will be provided.
