The Class of 2026 is ready to turn the tassel as the School District of Osceola County prepares to celebrate high school graduations this May and June. From Osceola Heritage Park to the School for the Arts, thousands of students will walk the stage and mark the beginning of their next chapter.

Graduation caps will fly on the following days and times for Osceola County’s 2026 high school graduates:

May 18, 2026 – Location: Osceola County School for the Arts

School’s Back in Session – Early Learning Coalition of Osceola County Shares Tips to Keep Students Healthy & Ready to Learn

With the new school year now underway in Osceola County, the Early Learning Coalition of Osceola County is encouraging parents and guardians to look beyond school supply lists and focus on their children’s overall health and well-being to ensure continued success in the classroom.

From scheduling well-child check-ups to reinforcing healthy sleep habits, these tips can help students stay healthy, focused, and ready to learn throughout the year.

Well-Child Examinations
Routine well-child visits are vital for monitoring growth, development, and overall health. These appointments allow healthcare providers to update medical histories, track growth patterns, ensure vaccinations are current, and address potential concerns early.

Vaccinations
Staying current on vaccinations is essential for preventing the spread of infectious diseases in schools. Recommended vaccines include diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis, hepatitis A and B, influenza, MMR, polio, varicella, and others. Families should consult their child’s healthcare provider to confirm state requirements.

Nutrition
A balanced diet plays a crucial role in a child’s focus, energy, and growth. Experts recommend starting each day with a nutritious breakfast, offering fresh meals and snacks, limiting sugary drinks, and encouraging hydration—especially in Florida’s warmer months.

Sleep
Adequate sleep supports learning, mood, and behavior. School-aged children generally need 8–10 hours of rest each night. Consistent bedtime routines, screen-free time before bed, and a calm, cool, dark sleeping environment can improve sleep quality.

Addressing Bullying
Bullying remains a concern in schools nationwide. Parents are encouraged to teach children how to respond—remain calm, say “stop” firmly, walk away, and seek help from teachers or school officials. Emotional support at home and, if necessary, professional counseling can help children cope with the effects of bullying.

Setting the Tone for a Positive Year
“Preparing for the school year is about more than just academics,” the Coalition notes. “It’s about fostering healthy habits, addressing challenges early, and creating a foundation for success and happiness.”

By focusing on these health and wellness priorities, parents can help ensure their children are ready—physically, emotionally, and mentally—for the year ahead.

School Open House 2024

Elementary schools will begin hosting Open House next week between 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Middle and K-8 schools will host an Open House the week of September 16-20, 2024.

All high schools and Osceola County School for the Arts will host an Open House on Monday, September 23rd.

Commissioner Brandon Arrington Distributes Over 900 Backpacks During 3rd Annual Back-to-School Tour in Osceola County

Commissioner Brandon Arrington was on Tour Wednesday, a Back-to-School Tour that included nine schools across Osceola County District 3, distributing backpacks filled with essential school supplies ahead of the soon coming new school year.

Commissioner Arrington’s Back-to-School Tour included visits to Poinciana Academy of Fine Arts, Discovery Intermediate School, Deerwood Elementary School, Koa Elementary School, Chesnut Elementary School for Science and Engineering, Reedy Creek Elementary School (Commissioner Arrington’s alma mater), Horizon Middle School, Sunrise Elementary School, and Pleasant Hill Elementary School. Over 900 backpacks were distributed, with each school receiving 100 backpacks filled with crucial school supplies.

“Instead of a traditional back-to-school event, we decided that educators know best who needs the supplies,” said Commissioner Arrington. “By empowering teachers and providing these resources directly to the schools, we ensure that students who show up without supplies can still have what they need to thrive. We want the kids to feel good and know we believe in them.”

Dr. Millie Torres, Principal at Deerwood Elementary shared her gratitude saying, “We are fully staffed and have highly effective teachers ready to welcome our kids on Monday. We have 413 students right now, but we expect more enrollments on Friday. These donations are fantastic, and I am grateful that we get to do it again this year.”

Commissioner Brandon Arrington has distributed more than 2,500 backpacks over the three years of his Back-to-School Tour, equipping schools to identify students in need and provide them with the tools necessary to succeed in the classroom.

This event will take place in Kissimmee, Florida on Thursday, July 25 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. The Job Fair is by invitation only, and invited candidates will receive additional details regarding the location and schedule for the day with their invitation.

To be considered for an invitation, we will need to establish that you should be eligible for a teaching certificate in Florida. Please complete the online application to determine whether your eligibility, certification status and / or degree major is appropriate to be invited to our Teacher Job Fair. Please upload documents like Teaching Certificates, College Transcripts, Statements of Eligibility and / or Passing Test Scores to assist in this process.

If we determine that you qualify for an invitation, we will contact you with further details about the day’s events. Just because you are not eligible for this event does not mean that you would not be eligible to be hired at a later date.

The Job Fair is just an additional forum for our schools to interact with potential new teachers. Schools are still interviewing candidates on their campuses every day, so be sure to apply directly for positions that interest you.
