SeaWorld’s new Weather-or-Not Assurance program can give you an opportunity to receive a complimentary return visit!

For instance:

• If inclement weather leads to an early park closure or significantly affects operating hours.
• If rides remain closed for over 60 minutes due to lightning, strong winds, heat, rain, or snow.
• If the park’s temperature reaches a heat index of 110 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

“When guests book and look forward to making memories in one of our SeaWorld parks, we want them to feel fully assured that if Mother Nature winds up having other plans that day – even if for as little as an hour – they will be able to come back another day, on us,” said Marisa Thalberg, chief marketing and communications officer of SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment.

Please note that the following cases are not eligible for Weather-or-Not Assurance tickets:

Pass Member admissions; complimentary tickets (including Weather-or-Not Assurance tickets); 14-Day Length of Stay tickets and packages; Discovery Cove ticket packages.

For cases that may be eligible but require verification, such as promotional/discount tickets (group sales tickets) and promotional multi-day tickets, it’s recommended to confirm at the Guest Relations desk.

To claim your return visit, simply visit the Guest Relations desk within the park. Make sure to have your original admission ticket or order number handy.

There’s something special about an Easter Sunrise service, especially at SeaWorld Orlando where the sun comes up over the glistening water near Bayside Stadium.

Z88.3 Artist, Hope Darst, will be leading worship this year during the Easter service! She sings Peace Be Still and Dr. Pete Alwinson will bring the Easter message. Dr. Alwinson was the founding pastor at Willow Creek in Chicago and currently has a men’s ministry.

The Easter Sunrise service at SeaWorld is free to attend, and SeaWorld also donates the parking, so there’s no cost to those attending.

As a part of the day, SeaWorld is offering a special 30% off discount to visit SeaWorld Orlando. Admission visitation for this offer is valid from April 17 through May 24, 2022.

The company made the announcement in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Friday afternoon, which was posted on SeaWorld’s investor relations website.

SeaWorld said the employees were furloughed as part of the company’s efforts to combat the financial hits brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent theme park closures. SeaWorld said the layoffs will impact certain park and corporate employees.

According to SeaWorld spokeswoman Lori Cherry, “While we were able to bring thousands of furloughed Ambassadors back to work and hoped to bring back everyone, the current environment requires us to setup the company for long term success. SeaWorld has determined that it must transition certain park and corporate personnel from a furloughed status to a permanent layoff. We are sorry to have to part ways with any team members in this difficult moment, but their abiding commitment to our guests, fellow Ambassadors and animals is recognized and made a lasting impact.” 

SeaWorld’s biggest financial pressure arrived in April, May and June, when parks were mostly shuddered amid the pandemic, and has said it had a net loss of $131 million across its 12 parks.

SeaWorld Orlando originally reopened June 10 with a 5 day open schedule, followed by a 6th and a recent 7th day open schedule. Unlike Disney and Universal, SeaWorld has rebooted a number of its typical events, A Taste of Seven Seas, Electric Ocean Remix, Craft Beer Festival, and its Christmas Celebration – all bringing SeaWorld fans some hope that somehow they will navigate through the continued pandemic. The company also said any rides currently under construction now have delayed openings until 2021.

SeaWorld said they originally placed two closed days into their calendar in order to focus on coronavirus-related cleaning protocols.

In a recent announcement, SeaWorld and Aquatica said that both parks will now be open seven days a week through October 5.

SeaWorld has also increased their operating hours on the weekends by opening Fridays through Sundays until 10 p.m. through Labor Day weekend. The park’s Craft Beer Festival will add Fridays to the calendar and will be serving up over 100 craft beers and awesomely paired savory specials from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. beginning August 28 through September 20.

Seaworld’s Flicks and Fireworks drive-in movie events will continue on Fridays and Saturdays into September, and will come to a close on its final night for the year on September 6. Unlike Disney and Universal, Seaworld will still hold its Halloween event, Spooktacular, an extremely popular daytime event that allows for kids of all sizes to peruse throughout the park, while social distancing, trick-or-treating for an abundance of candy!

Face masks are mandatory at SeaWorld Orlando and guests will notice park ambassadors sanitizing rides, encouraging social distancing, and ensuring that hand sanitizing stations are well stocked for its guests. Swanson, who was invited to speak with the vice president and Gov. Ron DeSantis, said he submitted plans to reopen, according to the governor’s request to all theme parks. Swanson also said, upon approval, SeaWorld will need two to four weeks to be ready for an opening next month.

As part of DeSantis’ phased plan to re-open the state’s economy, DeSantis said theme parks must make formal requests to open that include support from its local leaders.

Though theme park executives are required to include a reopening date when they pitch, Swanson did not mention his target date.

Among the other parks, Universal Studios, which opened portions of CityWalk last week, is expected to present reopening plans to the Orange County Economic Recovery Full Task Force when it meets Thursday, according to county officials. A list of other small attractions are expected to present, including Fun Spot and Gatorland.

The park announced plans Thursday for the Ice Breaker ride, set to launch in the spring of 2020 and become the Orlando park’s sixth roller coaster, joining names like Mako, Kraken and Manta.

It will be located across from the Wild Arctic flight simulator attraction and share its icy north-of-everything theme.

A “multi-directional” roller coaster – meaning that, at launch, it will send riders forward, and then backward, incorporating four launches before diving into the steepest beyond vertical drop in Florida – a 93-foot tall spike with 100-degree angle. It will be the first coaster in the Orlando theme park inventory with such a launch.

Sea World Orlando Vice President of Design and Engineering Brian Andrelczyk said Ice Breaker will be “thrilling but accessible for the entire family.”

“(It will feature) A near vertical climb and twist and near vertical drop, twists, turns and directional changes along 2,350 feet of travel distance,” he said Thursday.

A horizontal sliding mechanism will allow two 18-rider cars to be in use at the same time.

While it will reach speeds of 52 mph, it’s still considered a “family-friendly thrill ride” and will have a minimum height requirement of 48 inches.

Thursday’s announcement also came with enhancements to its ride inventory at Busch Gardens and Adventure Island in Tampa.
