DAVENPORT, Fla. — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a 16-year-old in connection to a deadly shooting that took place during an illegal house party in Davenport last month.

According to investigators, 18-year-old Daesean Anthony Moctezuma Orland was fatally shot during a large gathering held April 18 at a home located on Sommerset Hills Drive in Davenport. Detectives said the party was considered unauthorized and drew a significant number of people to the area before gunfire erupted.

Following an extensive investigation, homicide detectives arrested 16-year-old Chace Dawayne Mitchell and charged him with manslaughter, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in public, unlawful possession of a firearm by a person under 18 years of age, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Authorities said Mitchell was booked into the juvenile assessment center and is being held without bond. Due to his age, no booking photo was released.

Investigators continue working to piece together exactly what led up to the shooting and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline anonymously.

The shooting remains under active investigation.
