The closure of Old Canoe Creek road between U.S. Highway 192 and Neptune Road in St. Cloud could last several weeks, city officials said this afternoon, as they work on fixing a stormwater pipe collapse.

The city closed the road in both directions to determine the caused of the line break and to make repairs. Initially the sidewalk on the east side of the road, closest to St. Cloud Police Department, collapsed sometime overnight, and a bicyclist fell in the hole and was injured before being hospitalized for treatment. The pipe is a 10-foot wide stormwater drain.

Police are reviewing plans to reroute traffic in the area, but westbound traffic headed toward Kissimmee can use Neptune Road to Partin Settlement or Shady Lane to get to 192; eastbound traffic toward downtown St. Cloud can use Neptune east to 192.

From south of 192, try Nolte Road to Budinger Avenue or Canoe Creek Road.

Northbound traffic trying to cross 192 on Old Canoe Creek can go west to Commerce Center Drive, cross 192 and hook up with Old Canoe Creek near the Wal-Mart.
