KENANSVILLE, Fla. — Wild Florida Adventure Park is putting the spotlight on one of the Sunshine State’s most famous residents as Gator Week returns May 25-30, bringing six days of alligator-themed activities, educational experiences and free Gator Park admission while raising money for graduating Osceola County high school seniors.

The annual family-friendly celebration leads into National Alligator Day on Friday, May 29, giving visitors an opportunity to learn more about the American alligator and other crocodilian species through live demonstrations, feeding shows, keeper talks and interactive activities.

Throughout Gator Week, admission to Wild Florida’s Gator Park is free with any cash donation to Wild Florida Cares. Money raised will benefit the April and Ranier Munns Wild Florida Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to graduating Osceola County high school seniors pursuing higher education.

“Gator Week is one of our favorite times of the year because it gives families a chance to experience Wild Florida in a fun and meaningful way,” said PJ Brown, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at Wild Florida Adventure Park. “Offering free admission with a donation to our scholarship fund allows our community to enjoy these incredible animals while directly supporting local students and their future.”

Visitors will find activities taking place throughout the week, including the Gator Call Competition, where guests can test their best gator calls for a chance to win prizes, along with Exotic Animal Shows featuring some of Wild Florida’s other residents.

The park’s Croc Squad will also host daily Keeper Chats at 1:30 p.m., highlighting some of Wild Florida’s newer and more exotic crocodilian species.

Each day will also feature a special Gator Week event:

  • Monday, May 25 — Feeding Frenzy: Guests can watch alligators spring into action during a special feeding demonstration showcasing some of their favorite foods.
  • Tuesday, May 26 — Rock Your Crocs: Visitors wearing Crocs can receive free chow to feed the alligators and crocodiles in the Gator Pond.
  • Wednesday, May 27 — Jump-Like-A-Gator Competition: Beginning at noon in the Gator Pavilion, guests can test their jumping skills against one another, with the highest jumper taking home a Wild Florida-themed prize.
  • Thursday, May 28 — Gator Slushie Drinking Contest: At noon in the Gator Pavilion, participants will race to finish an orange slushie without using their hands. Participation is first-come, first-served.
  • Friday, May 29 — National Alligator Day Obstacle Relay: Beginning at 1 p.m. near the Recreational Area, Fluffy’s “cousins” will race through a Wild Florida obstacle course, followed by an opportunity for guests to snap photos with one of the racers.
  • Saturday, May 30 — Golden Gator Egg Hunt: Gator Week wraps up with Wild Florida’s first Golden Gator Egg Hunt. Three golden eggs will be hidden throughout the Gator Park containing prizes including Drive-thru Safari Park tickets, Gator Park tickets and airboat tour tickets. The hunt begins at 9 a.m. and continues until all three eggs are discovered.

Guests can also spin a prize wheel for $5, with opportunities to win animal feed for the Gator Pond, Barnyard or Bird Aviary.

Beyond providing families with plenty of wild fun, Wild Florida says Gator Week is designed to help visitors better understand alligators, dispel common myths and build appreciation for the native wildlife that plays an important role in Florida’s ecosystem.

“It’s a great reminder of what can happen when people come together for a good cause,” Brown said.

With free admission tied to a donation benefiting local students, Gator Week combines two of Wild Florida’s ongoing missions — connecting families with Florida’s wildlife and making a positive impact in the Osceola County community.
