A 16-year-old motorcyclist from Orlando was killed early Tuesday morning in a crash on U.S. 192 near Botanic Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). Authorities are now seeking information about a possible second vehicle involved.

The crash occurred around 1:21 a.m. when the teen rider, operating a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R750, was traveling southbound on Botanic Boulevard, attempting to enter eastbound U.S. 192 (E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway).

For unknown reasons, the motorcyclist lost control before entering the highway. The rider laid the motorcycle down, causing it to slide across the paved median break and into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 42-year-old woman from Palm Bay, who was traveling eastbound in the outside lane. The impact of the crash ejected the teen rider from the bike as it entered into the wood line.

Troopers said the teen motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

FHP investigators believe that an unknown vehicle may have also struck the motorcyclist as he lay in the roadway, but there is no further information about this possible vehicle.

The Toyota Corolla driver was not injured, and troopers continue to investigate what led to the initial loss of control. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the unknown vehicle is urged to contact FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
