A 4-year-old girl was found dead and her mother unresponsive in a hotel room near Celebration by Osceola deputies after they received a “suicide attempt” call on Tuesday. A note was found on the nightstand in the room with the words, “I’m sorry.”

According to an Osceola County Sheriff’s Office news release, security at the Star Island Resort responded to room 3922 B at the request of Michelle Decaro. Michelle Decaro requested a well-being check on her daughter, Jacinda Decaro, who she was unable to get ahold of by phone after failing to show up to work.

When security entered the hotel room they found Jacinda and her 4-year-old daughter Masiela in the room unresponsive. Jacinda had a faint pulse, but sadly, Masiela was dead. Jacinda was transported to Advent Health Celebration for emergency care and Masiela was declared dead on the scene.

“Possibly, she put some type of medications together, gave it to the baby, and then took them herself,” Osceola Sheriff Marcos Lopez said.

According to the Osceola Sheriff’s Office, there is no evidence to suggest there were any other individuals involved in the incident.

This is an ongoing investigation.
