The “Beyond the Call of Duty – Ride to Remember” team road into Osceola County on Thursday for an “End of Watch Ride” tribute ceremony at the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, to honor fallen Osceola Deputy Michael Riley Webb and his family members who were in attendance.
The “End of Watch Ride” kicked off its 22,000+ mile cross country trek in Spokane, Washington, on June 1, 2022 and is traveling across the United States in 79 days making tribute stops at hundreds of law enforcement agencies to honor fallen law enforcement officers.
The organization’s purpose is to ensure that no officer is forgotten, that their families know their loved one has not been forgotten; and that there is recognition, support and understanding to help them heal. According to their website they also support department safety and training to help lower the number of fallen officers we see each year.
The ceremony began with prayer, led by the Sheriff’s Office Chaplain “Benny” Valentin, followed by “Beyond the Call of Duty” founder Jagrut Shah.
“We refer to these men and women as ultimate heroes. I want people to know they’re not just a face, or just a name, or number. You’ll not see their badge number or employee number on any of our memorials. We refer them by their God-given name and we refer to them by their God-given name. They all have a beautiful and unique story, Shah said during the ceremony. “I am also here to remind every single man and every single woman that is commissioned, that wears a uniform, that wears a badge, that y0u are currently heroes, and don’t allow anyone to take that away from you.
Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez spoke directly to the Webb family during the ceremony, “We appreciate you Mr. Webb, and we appreciate your son’s sacrifice. Today we celebrate Deputy Webb and all men and women in law enforcement who have taken this passage this past year. The “End of Watch Ride” will help honor Deputy Webb by keeping his memory alive, to remind us to never forget and to help his family heal.”
The “Beyond the Call of Duty – Ride to Remember” Memorial honored Deputy Webb, as well as Daytona Beach Offiicer Jason Raynor, 26, was shot in the head on June 23, 2021, and Orlando Police Officer Kevin Valencia.
After leaving Osceola County, the “End of Watch Ride” made it’s way to Orange County where it held another tribute ceremony.
