KISSIMMEE, Fla. — An early morning fire heavily damaged a pawn shop on West Vine Street Friday, prompting a response from the Kissimmee Fire Department and temporarily closing a portion of one of the city’s busiest roadways.
Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 6 a.m. to a commercial structure at 4006 W. Vine St., where they arrived to find heavy fire conditions. Crews immediately began an aggressive attack on the blaze, working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.
After bringing the fire under control, firefighters remained at the scene extinguishing hot spots and conducting overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
One firefighter was transported to a local hospital as a precaution after suffering heat exhaustion while battling the blaze. No other injuries were reported. Officials said the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating what caused the fire.
The incident temporarily shut down both eastbound and westbound lanes of West Vine Street between North Hoagland Boulevard and Armstrong Boulevard while emergency crews worked at the scene. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
Fire officials have not released an estimate of the damage, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Incendio Comercial Daña Edificio en W. Vine Street en Kissimmee
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Un incendio ocurrido durante la madrugada del viernes causó daños significativos a un edificio comercial ubicado en West Vine Street, lo que movilizó al Departamento de Bomberos de Kissimmee y provocó el cierre temporal de un tramo de una de las principales vías de la ciudad.
Los bomberos respondieron alrededor de las 6:00 a.m. a un incendio en una estructura comercial localizada en 4006 W. Vine St., donde encontraron intensas llamas y una gran cantidad de humo al llegar al lugar. Las cuadrillas iniciaron de inmediato un ataque agresivo para controlar el incendio y evitar que las llamas se propagaran a propiedades cercanas.
Una vez que el fuego fue contenido, los bomberos permanecieron en la escena extinguiendo puntos calientes y realizando labores de inspección para asegurarse de que el incendio estuviera completamente apagado.
Un bombero fue trasladado a un hospital por precaución tras sufrir agotamiento por calor mientras combatía el incendio. No se reportaron otras personas lesionadas y, según las autoridades, el edificio se encontraba desocupado al momento del incidente.
La causa del incendio permanece bajo investigación por parte de la Oficina del Jefe de Bomberos del Estado de Florida (Florida State Fire Marshal).
El incidente obligó al cierre temporal de los carriles en ambas direcciones de West Vine Street entre North Hoagland Boulevard y Armstrong Boulevard mientras los equipos de emergencia trabajaban en la zona. La vía ya fue reabierta al tránsito.
Las autoridades no han informado aún una estimación de los daños ocasionados al edificio y la investigación continúa.
