Osceola County Commissioner for District 2 Viviana Janer led local leaders, housing advocates, and community members on Wednesday at Kissimmee Lakefront Park during the Osceola County Fair Housing Walk—an event dedicated to raising awareness about fair and equal housing opportunities across the county.
The event, a joint effort by Osceola County’s Housing and Community Services Department, the City of Kissimmee, and the City of St. Cloud, aimed to promote the principles of Fair Housing Month through unity, advocacy, and education.
“Fair housing is not just a policy—it’s a promise to every resident that they deserve dignity, respect, and opportunity when it comes to finding a home,” said Chairwoman Janer.
The morning began with remarks from Danicka Ransom, Director of Osceola County Housing & Community Services, who welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in advancing housing equity. She was followed by Chairwoman Viviana Janer, Osceola County Commissioner for District 2, and Kissimmee Mayor Jackie Espinosa, both of whom spoke about their governments’ shared commitment to fostering inclusive and accessible communities.
Following the opening remarks, dozens of attendees joined the symbolic walk around Kissimmee Lakefront Park, demonstrating community solidarity and a shared vision of accessible housing for all.
The program concluded with inspiring keynote speeches from regional housing leaders, including Renee Clark, President of the Osceola County Association of Realtors; Catherine Steck McManus, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando & Osceola; and Nicole Carrero, Esq., Managing Attorney of Fair Housing for Community Legal Services.
Each speaker highlighted the importance of fair housing education, the fight against discrimination, and the ongoing need for community-driven housing solutions in one of Florida’s fastest-growing counties.
This year’s Fair Housing Walk reaffirmed Osceola County’s commitment to working alongside municipalities and partner organizations to ensure all residents have equal access to safe, affordable, and fair housing opportunities.
