KENANSVILLE, Fla. — Alligator or crocodile? It’s a question many Floridians think they can answer — until they’re standing face-to-face with one.

At Wild Florida Adventure Park in Kenansville, visitors have an opportunity to see crocodiles up close while discovering what separates these impressive reptiles from their alligator cousins.

Although they may look similar at first glance, crocodiles and alligators have some noticeable differences. Crocodiles generally have narrower, more V-shaped snouts, while American alligators typically have broader, more rounded snouts. Their coloration, teeth and preferred habitats can also help distinguish the two.

Florida is especially unusual because it is the only place in the United States where American alligators and American crocodiles occur naturally.

At Wild Florida’s Gator Park, seeing these reptiles provides an opportunity to turn those facts into a real wildlife experience.

The park is home to more than 200 native and exotic animals, allowing families to spend time exploring wildlife without leaving Central Florida.

And there’s much more waiting beyond the Gator Park.

Guests can take their own vehicle through Wild Florida’s Drive-thru Safari Park, where giraffes, zebras, bison, wildebeest and other animals roam across expansive habitats.

Visitors looking to experience Florida wildlife in its natural surroundings can also climb aboard one of Wild Florida’s airboats for a ride through the Headwaters of the Florida Everglades.

It’s an opportunity to make a day at Wild Florida about more than seeing animals — it’s about experiencing them and discovering just how diverse the natural world can be.
