Disney World’s new Pandora – World of Avatar promises to provide and “out of this world” experience unlike any other.
Pandora will spread across 12 acres of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and is based on filmmaker James Cameron’s 2009 box office blockbuster, “Avatar.”
However, many don’t yet realize that the new attraction is set many years after Cameron’s final film in the series, which isn’t even completed yet. The planning for Pandora – World of Avatar began over 6 years ago after the original film and was created by the teamwork of Walt Disney Imagineering, Cameron and his production company.
It’s been said that park-goers will experience a real sense of nature at this new park, all in a place seemingly light years away from Earth.
The new land has has been created with conservation in mind, and visitors upon entering Pandora will experience the natural beauty and awe of this much anticipated addition to Animal Kingdom.
The first major addition to Walt Disney World since 2014 also comes with two new rides in Animal Kingdom. Avatar: Flight of Passage will simulate riding one of the movie’s flying mountain banshees, while Na’vi River Journey is a boat ride that recreates the scenic landscapes of Pandora, complete with audio-animatronics and some “rollercoaster-esque” plunges.
Disney representatives are quick to say that Pandora visitors who haven’t seen the original movie will still be wowed, and that a sense of adventure is all they will need!
Pandora – World of Avatar opens May 27.
