On Tuesday, the Osceola Chamber of Commerce hosted their ‘Osceola Update’ at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, gathering Osceola County’s Florida state legislators, community partners, and local stakeholders. The event, which featured a panel discussion moderated by Leticia Adams, Senior Government Advisory Manager at Walt Disney World, provided an opportunity to discuss the Spring 2024 legislative session and a look ahead to the upcoming Fall term.

The legislative panel included Senator Victor Torres (District 25), Representatives Kristen Arrington (District 46), Paula Stark (District 47), and Tom Keen (District 35). Representative Carolina Amesty (District 45) was unable to attend due to a last-minute conflict. The discussion focused on legislative achievements and upcoming initiatives.

The luncheon, chaired by the Osceola Chamber’s Chairman and Osceola Magic Vice President Carlos Velez, highlighted key legislative and infrastructure developments impacting the county, while Congressman Darren Soto addressed federal achievements, notably the progress on NeoCity. Jack Adkins, FDOT District 5 Director of Development, shared current and future transportation projects in response to Osceola’s rapid growth.

Walt Disney World Resort’s Elizabeth Watkins, thanked the legislators and shared exciting updates from the Disney parks, including the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Rebekah Hurd, Manager of Government Advocacy for AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division, emphasized the crucial role of the chamber’s Government Advisory Committee in steering civic engagement and advising the Chamber board.

The event closed with a commitment from all parties to continue to work together to ensure that Osceola County’s rapid development is supported by strategic legislative actions and community engagement, paving the way for a prosperous future.
