The Osceola School District, in collaboration with its industry and educational partners, will host the third annual Osceola Culinary Competition on Friday, April 4, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Kissimmee.
This exciting event will feature five simultaneous competitions, giving district high school and technical college students the opportunity to showcase the culinary skills they’ve developed through the district’s specialized culinary education programs.
Students from four high schools and the Osceola Technical College will compete in one or more events. One hundred and twenty-five students will be in attendance. Competition events will include: Mystery Menu (students will prepare a meal with ingredients provided, and they will be partnered with a chef mentor), Waiter’s Relay, Appetizer, Dessert, Knife Skills, the Pasta Challenge, and the Spice Challenge.
Competitors will be judged by local executive chefs, restaurant owners, and educators from UCF Rosen School of Hospitality. The judges will represent Walt Disney Resorts, Loews Hotels, Walt Disney Swan & Dolphin, LaTour Hotels, WDW Boardwalk, and Hangry Bison.
Industry sponsors include: Embassy Suites by Hilton, Kissimmee, Walt Disney World, Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association, Walt Disney Swan & Dolphin, and the National Barbecue & Grilling Association.
Participating High Schools and Technical College include Osceola High School, Poinciana High School, Tohopekaliga High School, Zenith Accelerated Learning Academy and Osceola Technical College.
