In an announcement made via a Walmart blog post, Walmart and Sam’s Club shoppers will be required to wear face masks to assist in preventing coronavirus spread in all its stores starting July 20.
A recent Harris poll showed that 77 percent of adults in the U.S. favor a mandatory face mask policy, given the continued increase of COVID-19 nationally and with the number of confirmed cases running past 3 million.
According to Walmart, about 65 percent of their more than 5,000 stores and clubs are located in areas where there is already some form of government mandate on face coverings, but in order to help bring consistency across their stores and clubs, Walmart will now require all shoppers to wear a face covering starting Monday, July 20.
They chose that date to initiate the company-wide change in order to inform customers and members of the changes, post signage and train associates on the new protocols.
