About 1 in 984 Osceola County residents did or have contracted the COVID-19 virus, according to the Florida Department of Health’s statistics.

The number of cases in Osceola is now at 388 as of Friday morning, four more than Thursday night. The county’s population is roughly 370,000. Here’s how those ratios compare to other local counties, including Orange, who has over 1,100 cases, but also has over a million people:

  • Orange County: 1,114 cases, 1 in 1,239 residents
  • Seminole County: 306 cases, 1 in 1,529 residents
  • Polk County: 304 cases, 1 in 2,329 residents
  • Brevard County: 192 cases, 1 in 3,109 residents
  • Lake County: 186 cases, 1 in 1,917 residents
  • Indian River County: 83 cases, 1 in 1,897 residents.

In Florida, Miami-Dade County (8,326 cases, 0.3 percent, 1 in 332 residents) has the most density. America’s density leader is Westchester County, N.Y., a suburb of New York City, where 2.3 percent of the population (21,828 cases, 1 in 44 residents) where or have been infected.

The state of Florida reports 24,114 cases this morning, 769 more than last night. Fatalities rose by 18 to 686.
