The deadline to register for the first time in Florida and be able to vote in the November 8, 2022 General Election is October 11, 2022.

In election “lingo,” it’s known as the “book closing” deadline. Per Florida Statute 97.055, the registration books must be closed on the 29th day before each election.

What are the qualifications for voting in Florida?

To be eligible to register to vote you must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States, be a legal resident of Florida and  be a legal resident of the county in which you seek to be registered.
  • Be at least 18 years old to register and vote.
  • Not be a person who has been adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state without having the right to vote restored.
  • Not be a person convicted of a felony without having your right to vote restored.
