The state of Florida is still looking for the trending to shift back lower with the regard to the number of new cases of COVID-19, but that unfortunately has still not happened. The Florida Department of Health reported 8,948 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday’s update, which brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 232,718 since early March.

Osceola County logged in with a total of 166 new cases, and one new coronavirus-related death, bringing the total amount of Osceola deaths to 211, or 1% of the reported cases in the county. Statewide, Florida reported an additional 120 deaths since yesterday’s update, bringing the state’s total death toll to 4009 (2% of all cases).

In the way of coronavirus-related hospitalizations in Osceola, there have 211, or 7% of the reported cases in the county. Hospitalization counts include anyone who was hospitalized at some point during their illness. It does not reflect the number of people currently hospitalized.

Thursday’s update also showed that there were 793 negative test results in Osceola, along with the 166 positives bringing the positivity rate of 17.3%, and lower than Florida’s positivity rate of 18.3%.

Since early march the The Florida Department of Health has reported that there have been 17,167 hospitalizations (7% of all cases).
