FHP is investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck by at least 2 vehicles on the northbound on-ramp of Poinciana Parkway, the second vehicle failed to stop after hitting the person.

According to FHP,  a person was standing on the entrance ramp of Poinciana Parkway at Marigold Avenue at  5:41 am, when the person was struck by a Kia Optima  traveling northbound on the entrance ramp. The pedestrian who was standing in the roadway, not in a marked crosswalk.driven by a 56-year-old Kissimmee woman, troopers said. Witnesses say a second vehicle struck the person who was at that point was lying in the roadway, but drove away.

Witnesses were unable to provide a vehicle description because of how dark it was at the time of the incident.

The person struck by the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Kissimmee woman driving the first vehicle and her passenger — a 54-year-old Kissimmee man — were uninjured in the crash, troopers said. The identity of the person fatally struck will be provided from the medical examiner’s office, the FHP report says.
