On March 25th, the UF/IFAS Extension Services – Osceola County is hosting a workshop called “Composting 101” at the St Cloud Library, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. This workshop will teach participants how to reduce waste and improve their gardens by starting a compost at home. The event will cover both the basic steps and the science behind composting. With landscaping debris making up 20% of all waste, this session is designed to show how easy and impactful composting can be for both the environment and garden health.

The UF/IFAS Extension Osceola County, an extension of the University of Florida, offers a variety of educational programs to the community, focusing on agriculture, human and natural resources, and the life sciences. Extension Services is committed to providing resources like classes, consultations, and field demonstrations to meet the needs of Osceola County’s diverse population. This Composting 101 workshop is part of their effort to enhance quality of life through sustainable practices, including a wide range of horticultural education from Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ to vegetable gardening.
