The Harmony Longhorns and East River Falcons had identical records coming into the game… 3-1 overall and 1-0 in district play, but the Longhorns came to play, and play they did. The first half was predominantly Longhorns as East River’s offense didn’t show up. On the Harmony side Senior QB #7 Nate Herstich went 11 of 21 and threw for 127 yards, 1 TD and 1 Interception, while Senior RB #9 Justin Gleason ran 22 times for 108 yards and 23 touchdowns. Harmony’s Caeleb Bass brought in 2 catches for 15 yards and a TD while Elijah Fernandez had one reception for 6 yards in the game. The Longhorns defense was very active throughout the game wth Junior LB #32 Elijah Gunn having 18 tackles and forcing one fumble. #2 LB Trey Heyes had a big night with 13 tackles, pulled in two fumbles and scored 2 TD’s for Harmony. Sophomore LB Juan Gomez did his part vs. East River High School with 12 tackles and sacked the Falcon QB twice. #8 Kareem Dinzey had one interception in the game. The game ended with Harmony 37 and East River 7.
The Longhorns, now 4-1, 2-0 in 7A-5 play, are focused on district rival St. Cloud for the Soldier City Classic. The Bulldogs are still looking for their first 2018 season win and would love to play spoiler next Friday against the Longhorns.
