KISSIMMEE, Fla. — For Kissimmee City Commissioner Janette Martinez, public service is about more than holding elected office. It’s about strengthening the community she calls home, supporting families and small businesses, and helping guide a growing city toward a safer, more prosperous future.
A small business owner, wife, mother of four, grandmother of four, and dedicated community advocate, Martinez has built her approach to leadership around family values, accessibility, transparency, and a commitment to putting people first.
Since her election to the Kissimmee City Commission in 2022, Martinez has focused on public safety, affordable housing, economic development, responsible growth, and improving the quality of life for residents.
Now, as she seeks re-election to Kissimmee City Commission Seat 4 on November 3, Martinez is highlighting her experience, accomplishments, and desire to continue serving the community that has played such an important role in her life.
Family and Community at the Heart of Her Service
Martinez’s connection to Kissimmee extends far beyond City Hall.
She has been married for 27 years to her middle school sweetheart, Jose Forty. Together, they have raised four children in Kissimmee and are proud grandparents of two.
Family remains at the center of Martinez’s life and her approach to public service. She understands that decisions made at City Hall affect real people, from parents raising children and seniors enjoying retirement to small business owners working to build a better future.
For Martinez, representing Kissimmee means staying connected to those families, listening to their concerns, and remembering that leadership is ultimately about people.
A Small Business Owner Who Understands the Community
Martinez brings firsthand business experience to the City Commission as the owner of Coquí Kitchen, a food truck and restaurant business, and J40 Print & Design.
Through entrepreneurship, she has experienced the challenges of operating a business, serving customers, managing expenses, and creating opportunities in a competitive economy.
That experience has shaped her commitment to supporting local businesses, encouraging job creation, and promoting development that benefits Kissimmee residents.
Martinez believes that when small businesses succeed, families benefit, jobs are created, and the entire community becomes stronger.
Her professional and leadership background also includes graduating from Full Sail University, completing the City of Kissimmee School of Government in 2016, and participating in Leadership Osceola’s Class of 2024.
She has also served on community boards and volunteered with local organizations, extending her commitment to Kissimmee beyond her responsibilities as an elected official.
Focused on Public Safety, Housing, and Responsible Growth
Since taking office, Martinez has made public safety a central priority, advocating for strong police and fire services, supporting first responders, and working toward safer neighborhoods.
Her commitment to public safety was also recognized during her successful 2022 campaign, when she received the endorsement of Kissimmee firefighters.
Affordable housing has been another important focus of her work. Martinez has supported initiatives such as Haven on Vine, an affordable and transitional housing development designed to help individuals and families facing housing challenges find greater stability.
As Kissimmee continues to grow, Martinez has advocated for responsible development that creates jobs, expands housing opportunities, and supports the infrastructure and public services needed to maintain residents’ quality of life.
She has also emphasized investments in parks, recreational spaces, and neighborhood improvements, recognizing the importance of places where families can gather, children can play, and communities can connect.
Seeking Re-Election to Continue Serving Kissimmee
With her first term nearing completion, Martinez is seeking re-election because she believes there is still important work ahead.
Her campaign priorities include strengthening public safety, expanding affordable housing opportunities, supporting local businesses, encouraging responsible growth, and continuing improvements to Kissimmee’s neighborhoods and public spaces.
Just as importantly, Martinez says she wants to remain an accessible commissioner who listens to residents, welcomes their ideas, and understands that the seat she holds belongs to the people of Kissimmee.
Her campaign emphasizes transparency, integrity, unity, and collaboration, values she believes are essential to moving the city forward while preserving the sense of community that makes Kissimmee special.
Martinez faces challenger Tiffany N. Jeffers in the November 3 election for Kissimmee City Commission Seat 4.

Seguridad, vivienda y crecimiento responsable
Busca continuar sirviendo a Kissimmee
