The Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM) is receiving a total of $466,204 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fund 100% of the Airport’s Master Plan Study (AMP). The FAA’s award to the Airport comes from a portion of the funding allocated to the FAA under the American Rescue Act Plan (AIP).
This grant, once received, will be used to update the long-overdue 2004 AMP. The AMP is a comprehensive study focusing on the short-, medium-, and long-term development plans to meet future aviation development.
“We anticipate the study will include important areas such as land-use development, forecasting, future aircraft mix, sustainability, and energy use. Also, this will provide ISM the opportunity to research and implement future best practices to support the regional aviation industry,” said Shaun Germolus, Aviation director at Kissimmee Gateway Airport.
The next step is to receive and approve the FAA grant offer and approve the AVCON agreement to perform the work. The study is anticipated to kick off in late summer or early fall. This process will also include public meetings and input.

Aeropuerto Kissimmee Gateway Recibirá Subvención de la FAA Para Financiar el Plan Maestro del Aeropuerto
El Aeropuerto Kissimmee Gateway (ISM) recibirá un total de $466,204 de la Administración Federal de Aviación (FAA por sus siglas en inglés) para financiar el 100 por ciento del estudio del Plan Maestro del Aeropuerto (AMP por sus siglas en inglés). La subvención de la FAA al Aeropuerto procede de una parte de los fondos asignados a la FAA en el marco del Plan de la Ley de Rescate Estadounidense (AIP por sus siglas en inglés).
Esta subvención, una vez recibida, se utilizará para actualizar el AMP del 2004. El AMP es un estudio exhaustivo que se enfoca en los planes de desarrollo a corto, mediano y largo plazo para satisfacer el futuro desarrollo de la aviación.
“Anticipamos que el estudio incluirá áreas importantes como el desarrollo del uso del suelo, pronóstico, combinación de aeronaves, uso de energía y sostenibilidad. Además, esto proporcionará a ISM la oportunidad de investigar y aplicar las mejores prácticas para apoyar al sector de la aviación regional”, dijo el director de aviación del Aeropuerto Kissimmee Gateway, Shaun Germolus.
El siguiente paso es recibir y aprobar la beca de la FAA y aprobar el acuerdo de AVCON para realizar el trabajo. Se anticipa que el estudio comience a finales del verano o a principios del otoño. Este proceso también incluirá reuniones y aportaciones públicas.
