A 22-year-old Kissimmee man is facing a long list of charges after detectives say they uncovered a disturbing collection of child sexual abuse material.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the case began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led local investigators to launch an inquiry earlier this month. On July 16, detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit identified the suspect as Melvin Echevarria-Alvarez.

Echevarria-Alvarez was arrested two days later and booked into the Osceola County Jail. After interviewing him, detectives executed a search warrant at his apartment in the Vineland Landings complex in Kissimmee.

Investigators say they uncovered significant evidence, leading to 96 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, two counts related to computer-generated abuse images, and two counts involving animal content. Echevarria-Alvarez is being held on one count with no bond; the remaining 99 charges carry bonds totaling nearly half a million dollars.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
