On Thursday James Crawford pleaded no contest and was adjudicated guilty to the manslaughter charge he faced in connection with the death of Chase Toops in 2017. Crawford was sentenced to 15 years in the Department of Corrections.

On March 12, 2017 Police were called to 2131 RJ Circle in response to a call that someone was shot inside the home. Crawford was arrested and charged for murder and five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the shooting death of Toops.

Continued investigative efforts led detectives to link Toops death directly to Crawford.
