A 66-year-old woman from Kissimmee died Wednesday evening after being hit by an SUV on Kings Highway in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Kings Highway, north of Henry Partin Road.

FHP’s crash report states that the woman entered the southbound lane of Kings Highway, directly into the path of a southbound 2018 Chevy Suburban. The SUV, driven by a 46-year-old man from Kindred with a 16-year-old girl as a passenger, struck the pedestrian.

The woman was transported to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not been released pending family notification.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were unharmed and remained on the scene, cooperating with authorities. Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
